AL-FATIHAH

On my fb newsfeed early this morning...
An ex-student of mine lost her brother in a road accident. According to Deana Danieesya Erwan her brother was riding a motorcycle on his way back to his kampung in Taiping.

It reminded me of my late brother...who also died in a road accident about a year ago...at a young age...leaving behind 3 beautiful kids. And...I miss him a lot.

In a talk given by an ustaz...I remember him saying...

"Bila ada kematian, kita menangis. Sedih. Tapi ingatlah...sesungguhnya itu lah yang terbaik dari Allah untuknya ( si mati)".

Yummmmy...

Habissss....Licin....Satu bekas..kongsi makan 3 orang... 



Terima kasih tak terhingga kepada rakan Mesraliza Mustaffa yang sanggup cari stok kacang pool bila balik kampung kat Johor pada cuti CNY yang lalu.....sanggup masak ....dan sanggup pulak bawa balik ke KL dalam ke'jem'man di lebuhraya di penghujung cuti....hanya kerana ctkay teringin nak makan kacang pool !!! Allah....jasa mu ku kenang !

First time dengar pasal kacang pool ni...ingatkan spesis kacang goreng... Tapi selalunya bayangkan kacang pool tu macam kacang kuda yang direbus...

Bila my course mate, Zainal My, posted in FB a picture of him and another course mate eating kacang pool in JB... aku pun dok hairan .....awat  la kacang pool tu tak seiras dengan kacang kuda yang aku bayangkan tu. That's when I started to google. 


Ini lah rupanya kacang pool (aku lupa nak ambik gambo kacang pool yang Mesraliza masak sebelum makan tadi, so kidnapped gambo org lain)... Katanya kacang pool ni makanan orang Johor, and now becoming popular. I tried it for the first time at a stall in Taman Seri Rampai, recommended by Mesraliza... Unfortunately, I was not happy with the taste...and thought that it would have tasted better if it was home cooked. So, sesi pujuk memujuk pun bermula...dan akhirnya Mesraliza terpedaya dengan pujukan...(walau pun aku ni sebenarnya bab pujuk memujuk mmg teramat tak pandai).

Alhamdulillah...hari ni dapat merasa home cooked kacang pool. Memang lah sodappp... boleh addicted cenggini ....

Basically, antara bahan asas kacang pool ni ialah daging kisar dan kacang pool tu sendiri (bahan lain, dan cara masak....jangan tanya aku...sebab aku mmg tak tahu...Kalau tau dah masak sendiri dah...tak payah susahkan Mesraliza. Google for recipe yeahh..) Kacang pool ni dimakan dengan roti ...biasanya roti yang tebal seinci ke atas yang dikukus terlebih dahulu - kata Mesraliza lah (tadi makan dengan roti gardenia jaaa....tak kukus pun...tetap licin). Aksesorinya pulak...bawang dan limau nipis/kasturi. Kalau nak pedas....boleh tambah cili potong. Telur mata tu ...optional...ikut selera masing-masing ...kalau tak suka, tak payah letak (masa mula-mula makan, rasa pelik gak...kenapa ada telur mata setongkoi atas kuah daging tu).

Dapur berasap...

Ini cerita semalam..

Buka peti ais....tengok ada daging je. Bawa keluar untuk defrost. Ingat nak masak kari daging. Tapi ada orang tu request daging masak kicap..

Taraaaa...daging masak kicap for lunch !!!


Biasanya cara masak..mula2 tumis bunga lawang, buah pelaga, kayu manis dan bawang2. Lepas tu masukkan daging, air dan kicap terus...dan tunggu sehingga daging empuk sebelum masuk bahan lain. 

Kelainan this time ...bawang2 ditumis sehingga agak perang warnanya...dan daging digoreng sehingga warnanya bertukar sedikitt sebelum air dan kicap dimasukkan. Hasil olahan...yumsss... Husband suka...anak2 pun suka taste masak kicap kali ni. 

I learn two things dr cara masak kali ni...One, rasa bawang lebih 'terbangkit' bila ditumis sehingga hampir garing. Second, rupa kuah lebih cantik (tidak keruh) bila daging digoreng sedikit terlebih dahulu sebelum dimasukkan air. Menggoreng daging terlebih dahulu juga membuat rasa kicap lebih terasa. 

Husband tanya macam mana boleh masak cara lain. My answer: Hasil tengok channel masak kat TV!

Yupps...banyak yang boleh dipelajari daripada channel masak-memasak tu. Antara my favourites: Food Network.

10,000 steps a day..

Pagi ni gi lari lagi. Macam biasa...bila choti, akan gi lari. Ntah...rasa puas semacam bila dapat lari ni. 
I started running in 1989. But had to stop after conceiving my first child. I began to run again in 2009. 

Punca asal lari ni sebenarnya untuk kurus ( I was quite 'heavy' in 1988 - 1989...tengok muka sendiri pun macam tak suka...sebab tembam semacam). But now, at this age, I run for health purposes. Yup...it's true that ajal maut di tangan Tuhan...kalau nak sakit, sakit jugak. Tapi itu lah yang dinamakan usaha. Lepas usaha, kita doa...dan serahkan segalanya padaNya. 

I ran 8034 steps this morning....This is about 5.8 kilometres. About 2000 more steps to reach 10,000 steps.... a rate where you are considered to live an active lifestyle (Google ...there are many articles on this). An 'active' lifestyle reduces the risk of  heart disease, diabetes and other cardiovascular-related illnesses, according to an article I read.. Petang nnt...cecah lah angka 10,000 tu ...selalunya lebih. So, it is not difficult to reach the goal of walking 10,000 steps a day actually.

Rindu semakin reda..

Alhamdulillah hari ni lagi 2 orang balik rumah...sempena cuti raya..
Hati ibu berbunga-bunga of course..


Yang di belakang tu angah...dah form 5 dah. Muka letih. He's not feeling well.
Yang depan...adik...the youngest (so far lah...). Adapting well to the new environment. Pakai kasut baru sebulan setengah tapi dah hampir jahanam dah. I guess he's adapting too well...

Waiting impatiently for one more to come home tomorrow. Lalalala....

Gebuszz Gebaszz

I love cooking. I love baking. Especially bila ada yang nak makan. But for many years, I seldom bake. Sebab busy kot. Sebab malas kot. Tapi lately kerap pula mem'baking'. Teruja bila baking hasilnya menjadi...dan habis licin. 

I baked agin this evening. Kek marble susu. Baked the same cake about 5 days ago. Husband likes it ...and a friend asked kalau boleh ambik tempahan... Kalau dah cam tu, memang sedap la kot. Tu yang buat lagi. As for me, the cake memang gebussssss.... 







There's a love story behind the never completed castle..

Subhanallah...rindunya kat anak-anak.

Dah beberapa hari rasa rindu kat anak2 meluap2.... Like I told a colleague of mine, "rasa mcm dada nak meletop" !! Yupss...that much. 


So, today I decided to follow my husband to Tronoh.. to fetch my eldest, Along. He's in his first year at Universiti Teknologi Petronas. He gets a one-week break for the Chinese New Year. A sense of relieve creeps in the moment I saw him. I guess that's how my mother feels every time I pay her a visit. 

Hmm...gambar peluk-peluk dgn Along lupa ambik pulak. Next time perhaps. 

We stopped here on our way back to KL...simply because tempat ni nampak cantik. Umur dah nak masuk 5 series tp ni baru first time sampai !!! Sempat ambik gambar je.. tak masuk dalam pun sebab hari dah panas... Tak sangka di sini tersimpan cerita cinta.

Hello there...

Salam perkenalan.

Me .... a mother of four....3 boys and 1 girl. Suka cerita-cerita.... the reason why this blog was created. Bukan pandai blogging pun. It started with buat blog untuk tempat kerja...Lama-lama...bila dah pandai sikit...ehh..rasa nak buat blog untuk cerita-cerita lah...

So, cerita pertama ...

Hari ni berjaya buat add widget text box bergerak kat blog tempat kerja tu (http://upakvertsetapak.blogspot.com/). Happy giler...sebab tetiba rasa pandai. Uuh...jadi seronok nak berblogging lak...
